An Update from Mr Hopkins - 25.10.24

For the last two weeks before half-term we are still enjoying some good weather - perfect for our outdoor adventures here at Spring Brook!

Cheeseden Ruins - MHP

The class are involved in a project about the war currently and so we visited an old mill valley where we could explore the old mill ruins - now overrun by nature - and try to find the air raid shelters that the mill workers would have used when needed. After searching for a while we managed to find one shelter and climbed down into the depths to explore the inside.

After this we walked past the cows to the mill ruins where we discovered that nature had completely overrun the ruins with trees growing through the walls. Here we had a great explore of the old building before walking back to the school vehicles. On the way back our pupils just couldn't resist walking down the river and helping each other get under the bridge!

Crompton Moor Waterfall - RCO

The class embarked on a more physical adventure today up at Crompton Moor. We walked down to the waterfall and helped each other complete the challenge of running up the rocks next to the waterfall itself. We saw lots of encouragement and helping hands which was great!

Next the physical challenge was to climb up the very steep path next to the waterfall to the top. This took some time but everyone made it!!

Crompton Moor Manhunt - CBR

For this trip we focused on social time and team building by travelling to Crompton Moor, walking up the hill to the forest and playing a big game of manhunt. We saw some amazing sportsmanship and communication and we found that there is no-one fitter or faster than Mr Hopkins!!!

Cheeseden Ruins - RCO

Back to the mill ruins for the last trip of the half term. On this trip the pupils loved seeing cows - some for the first time - and then went on to explore the ruins in full. The pupils found lots of interesting parts of the ruins and discovered how the trees are now growing through the buildings.

All in all a great half-term for our adventures, well done, everyone!!
