Longdendale Rangers -
Week 1
This week for our John Muir Award, we began working on our conservation and volunteering part of the award and SBU 1 went to Tintwistle Reservoir to work with the Longdendale Rangers.
Longdendale Rangers - Week 1
We have worked with the rangers for the past few years repairing footpaths, digging frog ponds and so on. Today saw us tackle a footpath that had become overgrown with brambles which had led the public to divert over a slippery slope.
Our task was to clear the level overgrown footpath of vegetation so that a new drain can be dug and some gravel laid to make the footpath clear and safe for walkers.
Paul, our ranger, was superb and we collected and wheeled all of our equipment down to the path under his direction and got to work.
For an hour we dug, chopped, pulled and clipped back all of the brambles and worked brilliantly together as a team until the area was completely clear.
Well done everyone and thank you to Paul for his guidance. We'll be back to complete more tasks next week!
